Green Celebrations

Trinity celebrates all on and off campus "going green" accomplishments. We continuously recognize and reflect on students' green performances through holding assemblies, award ceremonies, making special announcements, on the loud speaker and through our electronic newsy notes flyer, and displaying students work in the halls of our school for all to see and on our school website. We also celebrate Earth Day every year where all grades participate in earthly projects and gather for a prayer service/ceremony dedicated to our earth.

Earth Day

Many special "green" activities take place throughout the entire year, but Trinity always commemorates our Earth and environment especially on Earth Day. Students in PreK through 8th grade participate in outdoor or in class activities that relate to being green. We all begin the day with announcements on the history and importance of Earth Day, and then the students carry out their activities throughout the day. We weed, plant, mulch, and clean-up trash on campus. We also decorate re-useable grocery bags that become the students to use when needed and give each teacher a biodegradable plant pot with seeds and dirt. The middle school students organize bake sales and "green product" sales to raise money for these activities and to buy materials to help keep our campus become "green" and beautiful. Parents also make donations and volunteer to get involved in this big day.

Announcements

During the first week of every month, the 2nd grade students will take turns reading going green tips over the loud speaker as part of the morning announcements. They give tips and challenge students to continue practices at home. Announcements are also made to recognize the results of our energy audits and students who have completed zero waste snack all week for the first week of the month. They have their names published in Newsy Notes and added to the green hall of fame wall in the cafeteria. Students also make signs and posters and place them around the school to remind everyone to recycle and turn out the lights.
