Welcome to Trinity’s 85th year of making known the goodness of God.
As I enter my eighth year serving on the Board of Trustees and fourth year as Board Chair, I remain deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this extraordinary community alongside a committed and mission-driven group of Trustees.
This year holds special significance as we celebrate Trinity’s 85th anniversary under the theme “Deep Roots. Vibrant Futures.” For 85 years, Trinity has been shaped by the faith and vision of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and strengthened by generations of educators, families, students, alumni, and friends who have believed deeply in our mission.
Our roots are indeed deep. But an anniversary is not simply an opportunity to look back with gratitude. It is also an invitation to look forward with hope and purpose—to ask what we want Trinity to be at 90, at 100, and for generations yet to come.
The words of St. Paul feel particularly fitting as we begin this milestone year:
“Continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith… and overflowing with thankfulness.”
— Colossians 2:6–7
Rooted. Strengthened. Overflowing with gratitude. These words beautifully capture both Trinity’s legacy and our opportunity for the future.
Our partnership with the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and the Notre Dame Hallmarks continues to ground this work. This year, we are especially mindful of Hallmark #6: “We create community among those with whom we work and those we serve.” Community has always been one of Trinity’s greatest strengths. It is reflected in the relationships among our students and teachers, the partnership between families and school leadership, and the shared responsibility each of us has for ensuring that every child is known, valued, challenged, and loved.
For the Board of Trustees, that responsibility also means being thoughtful stewards of Trinity’s future. During the year ahead, we will continue to focus on long-term financial sustainability, enrollment and advancement, strong Board governance and succession planning, and the continued implementation of our Strategic Plan. We will also support the school as it moves through the important work of the AIMS re-accreditation process—an opportunity to reflect on where we have been, assess where we are today, and thoughtfully envision where we are going.
As we undertake this work, I keep returning to a question I shared with our faculty as we began the year: What do we want Trinity to be at 90? At 100?
The answer will not be written by any one person or group. It will be shaped by all of us—faculty and staff, families, students, alumni, school leadership, Trustees, the Sisters, and the many people who love Trinity and believe in its mission.
Our responsibility is to honor the deep roots entrusted to us while having the courage and imagination to cultivate a vibrant future.
As St. Julie Billiart reminds us:
“You know that desires are not enough; action is needed.”
The Board is ready for that work. We are ready to listen, to partner, to serve, and to act with Trinity’s mission and long-term future always at the center of our decisions.
